Responsibilities

• Conduct risk assessments, hazard identifications, and job safety analyses.
• Lead HSE audits, inspections, and site assessments to ensure compliance and identify improvements.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses; determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver HSE training programs tailored to project risks and workforce needs.
• Ensure compliance with national and local HSE legislation and standards.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, clients, and contractors on HSE matters.
• Promote a positive HSE culture across the organization and sites.
• Manage environmental aspects including waste management and EIA activities.

About the Role

Our client, a major developer and operator of **energy** infrastructure, is seeking an experienced and proactive Senior HSE Manager to oversee health, safety, and environmental performance for projects in the **Polokwane, Limpopo, ZA** region. This critical role ensures that all operations adhere to the highest HSE standards, regulatory requirements, and best industry practices. You will lead the development and implementation of comprehensive HSE management systems, conduct risk assessments, manage incident investigations, and promote a robust safety culture across multiple project sites. Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in Health, Safety, and Environment management, with a substantial portion focused on large-scale construction or **energy** projects.


• Proven experience in developing and implementing robust HSE management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001).


• In-depth knowledge of South African HSE legislation and industry best practices.


• Strong risk assessment and incident investigation skills.


• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.


• Experience working in a hybrid management role, balancing strategic planning with site-based responsibilities.


• Ability to influence and engage diverse teams and contractors.


• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites in and around **Polokwane**.


• Professional certification (e.g., CSP, CIH, NEBOSH Diploma) is highly desirable.
