Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior HSE Advisor based in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. The role is hybrid, overseeing HSE compliance across multiple project sites and the central office, developing and monitoring strategies, and promoting a strong safety culture.

You will conduct risk assessments, investigations, and training, ensure alignment with SA HSE legislation and ISO standards, and liaise with project teams, contractors, and regulators to minimize risk and support South Africa's

Formación

• Minimum of 6 years in HSE advisory roles, preferably in energy or construction.
• Experience implementing HSE management systems (ISO 14001/45001).
• Strong knowledge of South African HSE legislation (OHS Act, NEMA).

About the Role

Our client, a progressive company at the forefront of renewable energy development in South Africa, is seeking an experienced Senior HSE Advisor to join their expanding team. Based in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, this hybrid role involves ensuring the highest standards of Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance across various project sites and the central office. You will play a crucial role in developing, implementing, and monitoring HSE strategies, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a robust safety culture. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HSE regulations within the energy sector, particularly in construction and operational environments. You will work collaboratively with project teams, contractors, and regulatory bodies to mitigate risks and ensure best practices are followed. We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented professional with excellent communication and problem-solving skills. This is a vital role supporting South Africa's transition to sustainable energy sources, based in the beautiful region of Mpumalanga.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive HSE management systems and procedures.
• Conduct site inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and non-compliance.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver HSE training programs to employees and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant South African HSE legislation and industry standards.
• Advise project management and site teams on HSE matters and best practices.
• Promote a positive safety culture through engagement, communication, and leadership.
• Prepare HSE reports, statistics, and performance metrics for management review.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities and external stakeholders on HSE matters.
• Stay current with evolving HSE regulations and industry trends in the renewable energy sector.

Requirements

• National Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in HSE advisory roles, preferably within the energy sector or construction.
• Proven experience with Health, Safety, and Environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
• In-depth knowledge of South African HSE legislation (e.g., OHS Act, NEMA).
• Experience in conducting risk assessments, HAZOPs, and incident investigations.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a hybrid work setting.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites.
• First Aid and relevant safety certification is advantageous.
• Must be eligible to work in South Africa.
