Placements24 is assisting a client in Mahikeng, North West to recruit a Senior Health and Safety Officer for a mining operation. The role focuses on developing and enforcing comprehensive health and safety programs, conducting risk assessments, and delivering training to staff and contractors.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and experienced Senior Health and Safety Officer to ensure stringent safety standards and regulatory compliance within their mining operations near Mahikeng, North West . • Develop and deliver safety training programs for all employees and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant South African mining regulations and legislation.
• Advise management on OHS matters and promote a strong safety culture throughout the organization.

Requirements

• National Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in health and safety management, with a significant portion within the mining sector .
• Registered with a relevant professional body (e.g., SAIOSH).
• In-depth knowledge of South African mining safety legislation (e.g., Mine Health and Safety Act).
• Proven experience in conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety training.
