Placements24 is seeking a proactive Health and Safety Officer to champion a strong safety culture within mining operations. You will implement and enforce safety policies, conduct risk assessments, deliver training, and investigate incidents to prevent recurrence, ensuring well-being and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include site inspections, hazard identification, training delivery, and promoting a positive safety culture across all levels of the organization.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in a Health and Safety role, mining preferred.
• Knowledge of SA health and safety legislation (MHSA, OHS Act).
• Strong risk assessment and incident investigation skills.

You will be responsible for implementing and enforcing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, delivering training, and investigating incidents to prevent future occurrences. Your contribution will be vital in protecting our workforce and ensuring operational continuity by minimizing workplace hazards.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety management systems.

Requirements

• National Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Health and Safety role, preferably within the mining industry.
• Knowledge of relevant South African health and safety legislation (e.g., MHSA, OHS Act).
• Strong risk assessment and incident investigation skills.
• Excellent communication, training, and leadership abilities.
• First Aid certification is advantageous.
