About the Role

Our client is seeking a vigilant and proactive Mine Safety Officer to ensure the utmost safety and health standards are maintained across all mining operations in the Centurion, Gauteng area. This role is critical in implementing and enforcing robust safety protocols, conducting thorough risk assessments, and fostering a safety-first culture among all personnel. You will play a key role in accident prevention, emergency preparedness, and continuous improvement of safety management systems. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive health and safety plans and procedures for mining sites.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses, recommending and implementing corrective actions.
• Deliver safety training programs and toolbox talks to all site personnel.
• Maintain accurate safety records and prepare reports for management and regulatory bodies.
• Promote a positive safety culture throughout the organization, encouraging active participation from all employees.

Requirements

• National Diploma in Safety Management, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience as a Safety Officer, preferably within the mining sector .
• Registered with a relevant professional body (e.g., SAIOSH).
• In-depth knowledge of South African mining health and safety legislation (e.g., MHSA).
• Strong communication, leadership, and investigative skills.
• First Aid and firefighting certifications are highly desirable.
