Placements24 is seeking a Senior Grid Modernization Engineer in Upington, Northern Cape, to lead upgrades to the electricity grid with a focus on smart grid technologies, DER integration, and grid automation.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems) and 8+ years of experience in grid modernization, including SMART grid tools and protection schemes, to deliver reliable energy infrastructure in South Africa.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• 8+ years of experience in power systems engineering with a focus on grid modernization and smart grid technologies.
• Knowledge of grid operations, power flow analysis, protection systems, and distribution design.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and implementation of grid modernization projects including smart grid tech and DER integration.
• Analyze grid performance data to identify improvement areas and develop modernization strategies.
• Design and engineer solutions for grid automation, protection, and control systems.
