Placements24 is seeking a Senior Grid Modernization Engineer in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, to lead the design, planning, and implementation of advanced grid modernization solutions. The role focuses on reliability, efficiency, and integration of DERs in a collaborative energy sector team.

The candidate should have a Master's in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems) with 7+ years in grid modernization, AMI, SCADA upgrades, and strong project management skills.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with Power Systems specialization.
• 7+ years of experience in power systems with grid modernization focus.
• Experience designing/implementing AMI, distribution automation, and grid management systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead grid modernization projects focusing on smart grid tech and upgrades.
• Analyze grid data to identify improvements and modernization strategies.
• Design and implement AMI, SCADA upgrades, and distribution automation.
• Evaluate DER integration and energy storage into the grid.
• Develop equipment specs and manage timelines, budgets, resources.
• Mentor engineers and stay aligned with regulatory requirements.
