Job summary

Placements24 in South Africa seeks a highly skilled Grid Modernization Specialist to join its technical division. This fully remote role focuses on modernizing the power grid and delivering resilient energy infrastructure from anywhere in SA.

You will analyze grid systems, evaluate technologies like SCADA, EMS, and AMI, and develop roadmaps for modernization while collaborating with remote teams. The ideal candidate has a master's in electrical engineering and 7+ years in power systems, with

Qualifications

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with a specialization in power systems.
7+ years of experience in power systems engineering with grid modernization focus.
Strong knowledge of power system analysis, grid operations and control systems.

Responsibilities

Analyze existing grid infrastructure to identify modernization opportunities.
Research and evaluate technologies for grid enhancement (smart meters, SCADA, DERs).
Develop strategies and roadmaps for grid modernization initiatives.
Collaborate with engineering teams and partners on implementing new grid technologies.
Perform simulations and modeling to assess impact on grid performance.
Create technical specifications and tender documents for grid equipment/services.
Monitor performance of modernized assets and propose optimization.
Stay updated with trends, regulatory changes, and best practices.
Provide technical support to other departments and project teams.
