Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join their team in Tembisa, focusing on foundation design and ground improvement for diverse construction projects. You will analyze soil conditions, conduct site investigations, and provide expert recommendations for foundation systems to ensure structural integrity.

The role requires a Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, ECSA registration as Pr. Eng or Incorporated Engineer, and at least five years of practical experience.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
• Professional registration with ECSA as Pr. Eng or Incorporated Engineer.
• At least 5 years of geotechnical investigations and foundation design experience.
• Proficiency in Plaxis and GeoStudio.
• Knowledge of South African geotechnical standards and codes of practice.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed geotechnical investigations including site reconnaissance, borehole drilling, and in-situ testing.
• Analyze soil and rock samples to determine properties relevant to foundation design.
• Perform slope stability analyses, bearing capacity calculations, and settlement predictions.
• Design foundation solutions (shallow and deep) and ground improvement techniques.
• Prepare geotechnical reports with recommendations on foundation type, pressures, and settlement control.
• Collaborate with clients, project managers and construction teams to address geotechnical concerns.
