• At least 5 years of geotechnical investigations and foundation design experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed geotechnical investigations including site reconnaissance, borehole drilling, and in-situ testing.
• Analyze soil and rock samples to determine properties relevant to foundation design.
• Perform slope stability analyses, bearing capacity calculations, and settlement predictions.
• Design foundation solutions (shallow and deep) and ground improvement techniques.
• Prepare geotechnical reports with recommendations on foundation type, pressures, and settlement control.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Geotechnical Engineer to join their growing team in Tembisa , focusing on foundation design and ground improvement for diverse construction projects. You will be responsible for analyzing soil conditions, conducting site investigations, and providing expert recommendations for foundation systems that ensure structural integrity and long-term stability. This role requires a meticulous approach to problem-solving and a strong understanding of soil mechanics and rock mechanics principles. You will work closely with structural engineers and construction teams, contributing essential geological insights to ensure the success and safety of building developments.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed geotechnical investigations, including site reconnaissance, borehole drilling, and in-situ testing.
• Analyze soil and rock samples to determine physical and mechanical properties relevant to foundation design.
• Perform slope stability analyses, bearing capacity calculations, and settlement predictions.
• Design appropriate foundation solutions, such as shallow foundations, deep foundations (piles, piers), and ground improvement techniques.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, including recommendations for foundation type, bearing pressures, and settlement control.
• Liaise with clients, project managers, and construction personnel to address geotechnical concerns and provide site support during construction.
