Placements24 is seeking a Senior Geologist for a mining client near Soweto, Gauteng, to lead resource development and bridge exploration to mine production. You will build robust 3D geological models and provide credible resource estimates to guide planning.

The role requires a Master’s in Geology and 7–9 years of experience in modeling and estimation, with proficiency in Leapfrog Geo, Vulcan, Supervisor, and Isatis. A hybrid work setup and relocation assistance may be available.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geology or Earth Science with quantitative mineral deposit modeling or geostatistics specialization.
• 7–9 years of relevant experience in mineral resource estimation and geological modeling.
• Proficiency in geological modeling software (Leapfrog Geo, Vulcan) and geostatistical tools (Supervisor, Isatis).
• Strong understanding of mineral deposit types and their characteristics.
• Experience with QA/QC of geological data and data management.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent mining entity, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Geologist to focus on resource development within their operations near Soweto, Gauteng. This key role involves the detailed evaluation and definition of mineral resources, supporting the transition from exploration to mine production. The Senior Geologist will be responsible for geological modeling, resource estimation, and ensuring the quality and reliability of geological data. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of structural geology, ore deposit models, and geological software used in resource estimation. Working in proximity to the vibrant hub of Soweto, you will contribute to unlocking the potential of significant mineral assets. Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• A Master's degree in Geology or Earth Science, with a specialization in quantitative mineral deposit modeling or geostatistics.
• A minimum of 7-9 years of relevant experience in mineral resource estimation and geological modeling.
• Proficiency in geological modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog Geo, Vulcan) and geostatistical software (e.g., Supervisor, Isatis).
• Strong understanding of various mineral deposit types and their characteristics.
• Experience with geological data management and QA/QC protocols.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
• Familiarity with international reporting codes (e.g., JORC, NI 43-101) is advantageous.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness to travel to mine sites as needed.
