Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mine Geologist near Polokwane, Limpopo, to evaluate mineral resource potential and manage data for estimation and modeling. The role blends field mapping with office analytics in a hybrid setup to support mine planning and investment decisions.

You will lead 3D modeling using Leapfrog, Vulcan and Surpac, perform resource estimations under JORC/NI 43-101/SAMREC, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geology or Economic Geology.
• 8–10 years of mine geology experience with resource estimation.
• Proven ability to model complex geological structures and ore bodies.
• Proficiency in Leapfrog Geo, Vulcan and Surpac.
• Strong understanding of resource estimation methodologies and reporting codes (JORC, NI 43-101, SAMREC).
• Excellent written and verbal communication; capable of presenting technical information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Manage and validate geological databases for data integrity and QC.

About the Role

Our client, a forward-thinking entity within the mining and exploration sector , is seeking a highly experienced Senior Mine Geologist to focus on resource evaluation near Polokwane, Limpopo . This role is central to accurately assessing and defining the mineral resource potential of existing and prospective mining areas. You will be responsible for geological data management, interpretation, geological modeling, and resource estimation, ensuring compliance with international reporting standards. This position requires a blend of field-based geological mapping and data collection, combined with advanced data analysis and modeling in an office environment, hence the hybrid work model. Your expertise will directly influence strategic investment decisions and mine planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed geological mapping, sampling, and core logging to define geological domains and mineralization styles.
• Manage and validate geological databases, ensuring data integrity and quality control.
• Develop and refine 3D geological models using industry-standard software (e.g., Leapfrog, Vulcan, Surpac).
• Perform geological resource estimations in accordance with JORC, NI 43-101, or SAMREC codes.

Requirements

• A Master's degree in Geology or Economic Geology.
• A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in mine geology, with a strong emphasis on resource estimation and modeling.
• Proven experience in modeling complex geological structures and ore bodies.
• Proficiency in geological modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog Geo, Vulcan, Surpac) and database management systems.
• Thorough understanding of resource estimation methodologies and reporting codes (JORC, NI 43-101, SAMREC).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting technical information clearly.
• Experience working in a hybrid remote/office environment.
• Professional Geoscientist (Pr. Sci. Nat.) registration is preferred.
