Placements24 is seeking a Mine Geologist to join the exploration and resource estimation team in Sandton, Gauteng. The role spans greenfields exploration to detailed resource modeling and provides critical geological input for mine planning and operations.

The candidate will develop geological models, conduct data interpretation, and perform resource estimations to industry standards, working in a hybrid setup with on-site activities near Sandton and remote analysis as needed.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology or a related earth science field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in exploration geology and/or resource estimation.
• Proficiency with geological modeling and resource estimation software (e.g., Leapfrog, Vulcan, Datamine, Micromine).
• Experience with statistical analysis and geostatistical methods for resource modeling.

Responsibilities

• Conduct geological mapping, sampling, and core logging for exploration and resource definition.
• Collect and interpret geological, geochemical, and geophysical data.
• Develop and maintain geological models using industry-standard software.
• Perform resource estimations according to recognized industry standards (e.g., JORC, NI 43-101).
• Collaborate with mine engineers to provide geological input for mine design and planning.
• Assist in the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and exploration program proposals.
• Ensure data quality and integrity throughout the geological workflow.
