About the Role

Our client, a rapidly expanding logistics enterprise, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Fleet Operations Manager to oversee their extensive vehicle fleet in Klerksdorp, North West . This leadership position involves strategic planning, operational oversight, and team management to ensure the highest levels of efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness in fleet operations. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing policies, managing budgets, optimizing fleet utilization, and ensuring compliance with all relevant transportation regulations. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic plans for fleet operations to meet organizational objectives and enhance service delivery.
• Manage the day-to-day operations of the fleet, including vehicle deployment, route planning, and scheduling.
• Oversee fleet maintenance programs, ensuring all vehicles are in optimal condition and comply with safety standards.
• Manage departmental budgets, including fuel, maintenance, insurance, and operational expenditures.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of fleet supervisors, mechanics, and administrative staff.
• Implement and enforce company policies and procedures related to fleet safety, security, and usage.
• Analyze fleet performance data, identify trends, and implement initiatives for continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with all national and provincial transportation laws and regulations.
• Manage relationships with external vendors, suppliers, and service providers, including maintenance shops and parts distributors.
• Respond to and investigate fleet-related incidents, accidents, and emergencies, implementing corrective actions.

Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in fleet management, with at least 3 years in a senior management or supervisory role.
• Proven track record of managing large and diverse vehicle fleets.
• Extensive knowledge of fleet maintenance, repair, telematics, and operational best practices.
• Strong understanding of financial management, budgeting, and cost control principles within fleet operations.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in fleet management software and data analysis tools.
• Demonstrated ability to implement and maintain robust safety and compliance programs.
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Logistics, Business Management, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience in the Klerksdorp, North West region is advantageous.
