About the Role

Our client, a prominent player in the transport and logistics industry based in Klerksdorp, North West , is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fleet Operations Manager. This senior role is responsible for overseeing the entire fleet, ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics management, fleet maintenance, and team leadership, with a proven ability to optimise operational costs and improve service delivery. You will play a critical role in maintaining the highest standards of service for our client’s diverse customer base, contributing directly to the company’s success in the competitive Klerksdorp market and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and supervise daily fleet operations, including vehicle scheduling, dispatching, and routing. Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations, safety standards, and environmental policies. Develop and implement strategies to improve fleet efficiency, reduce operational costs, and enhance fuel economy. Oversee vehicle maintenance programs, ensuring all vehicles are in good working order and meet safety standards. Manage relationships with third-party service providers, such as maintenance workshops and parts suppliers. Lead, train, and motivate the fleet operations team, fostering a culture of safety and performance. Monitor fleet performance using telematics and other data analysis tools, identifying areas for improvement. Handle incident management, including accident investigations and insurance claims processing. Develop and manage the fleet operations budget effectively. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of experience in fleet management or logistics operations, with at least 3 years in a managerial role. In-depth knowledge of transport regulations, safety protocols, and fleet maintenance best practices. Strong understanding of fleet management software and telematics systems. Proven ability to manage budgets and control operational costs. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Experience in the North West region's transport landscape is advantageous. Ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions in a dynamic environment. Valid driver's license. Experience with risk management and compliance in the transport sector.
