Qualifications

• Admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• Minimum 7 years post-qualification experience in employment law.
• Strong advocacy, negotiation, and drafting skills.
• Ability to manage a demanding caseload and lead a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on all aspects of employment law including contracts, disciplinary processes, dismissals and retrenchments.
• Draft and review employment contracts, policies, and procedures for compliance.
• Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, arbitrations and litigation before CCMA, Bargaining Councils and Labour Courts.
• Advise on collective bargaining, trade union relations and strikes.
• Conduct internal investigations and advise on employee grievances.
• Develop and deliver training sessions on employment law best practices.
• Stay current with changes in labour legislation and case law.

About the Role

Our client, a dynamic and forward-thinking corporate law firm located in Vereeniging, Gauteng , is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Senior Employment Lawyer to lead its employment law practice. This role is crucial for advising a diverse range of clients, from SMEs to large corporations, on all facets of employment law. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic legal counsel, managing complex employment disputes, and ensuring clients remain compliant with evolving labour legislation. Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on all aspects of employment law, including contracts, disciplinary processes, dismissals, and retrenchments.
• Draft and review employment contracts, policies, and procedures to ensure legal compliance.
• Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, and litigation before the CCMA, Bargaining Councils, and Labour Courts.
• Advise on collective bargaining, trade union relations, and strikes.
• Conduct internal investigations and advise on employee grievances.
• Develop and deliver training sessions to clients on employment law best practices.
• Stay current with legislative changes and case law in the employment law sphere.
• Manage and mentor junior legal staff within the employment law department.

Requirements

• Admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• A minimum of 7 years of post-qualification experience with a strong focus on employment law.
• Demonstrated expertise in handling complex employment disputes, litigation, and advisory work.
• In-depth knowledge of the Labour Relations Act, BCEA, EEA, and other relevant employment legislation.
• Proven experience in drafting and advising on employment contracts and policies.
• Excellent advocacy, negotiation, and drafting skills.
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage a demanding caseload.
