Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Legal Advisor specialized in Employment Law to join its Vereeniging-based team. You will advise HR and management on employee relations, draft and update contracts and policies, and ensure compliance with South African labour legislation while representing the company in disputes.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of post-qualification experience in employment law, an LLB, and admission as an attorney.

Qualifications

• LLB degree from a recognized tertiary institution.
• Admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience in employment law.
• In-depth knowledge of South African labour legislation and CCMA/Bargaining Council procedures.
• Proven experience in handling employment disputes and negotiations.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on all employment law matters, including recruitment, disciplinary processes, performance management, and terminations.
• Draft, review, and update employment contracts, policies, and procedures.
• Advise on compliance with the Labour Relations Act, BCEA, EEA, and other relevant legislation.
• Represent the company in CCMA and bargaining council disputes, mediations, and arbitrations.
• Conduct internal investigations into employee grievances and misconduct.
• Develop and deliver training programs on employment law and HR compliance for managers and staff.
• Assist with restructuring processes and retrenchments, ensuring legal compliance.
• Stay abreast of developments in employment law and provide proactive guidance to the business.
• Manage litigation related to employment disputes.
