Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Project Engineer to lead electrical design and project management for large infrastructure in and around Pretoria, Gauteng. The successful candidate will oversee design, feasibility, construction and commissioning, ensuring safety, quality and schedules are met.

This hybrid role combines office work with remote flexibility, offering professional development opportunities within a dynamic engineering team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in project engineering within infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems in transportation, utilities, or power distribution.
• Proven project management experience with budget and schedule control.
• Experience with electrical design software and project management tools.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment balancing office and remote duties.
• PE/Pr Eng or ECSA registration is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Oversee electrical design and engineering for infrastructure projects (transportation networks, utilities, public facilities).
• Develop project scopes, specifications, and tender documents for electrical works.
• Manage electrical consultants and contractors through the project lifecycle.
• Ensure compliance with national and international electrical standards.
• Review and approve designs, drawings, and methods.
• Monitor progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Liaise with clients, authorities, and stakeholders to facilitate execution.
• Lead site inspections, commissioning activities, and defect rectification.
