Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Maintenance Engineer for on-site duties in Bloemfontein within a major mining operation. The incumbent will lead preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical systems, guide technicians, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

The role emphasizes HV/MV expertise, PLCs, VFDs, and strong leadership in a heavy industrial setting. A Pr. Eng. registration is advantageous, with opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in electrical maintenance, with 3+ years in a supervisory role.
• Proven experience with HV and MV systems, substations and distribution networks.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills; compliance with safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive electrical maintenance strategies, including preventive and predictive maintenance.
• Oversee repair and troubleshooting of electrical equipment: HV switchgear, transformers, motors, VFDs, control systems.
• Manage a team of maintenance technicians, providing guidance and performance feedback.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards (OHS Act, MHS Act) and company policies.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment history.
