Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Installation Engineer for operations near Kimberley, Northern Cape. You will oversee and manage the safe installation of complex electrical systems on-site, ensuring quality, safety, and regulatory compliance across project scopes.

The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to coordinate with project stakeholders in a demanding mining environment. A Pr.Eng is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 7+ years of experience in managing electrical installations, preferably in mining, heavy industrial or infrastructure sectors.
• Strong knowledge of HV and MV electrical systems, switchgear, transformers, and power distribution.
• Experience reading and interpreting complex electrical schematics and installation drawings.
• Excellent understanding of site safety regulations and procedures in industrial environments.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
• Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for site coordination.
• Ability to work under pressure in a challenging site environment.
• Pr.Eng registration with ECSA is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage all aspects of electrical installations on project sites, including power distribution, motor control centers, lighting, and communication systems.
• Ensure adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards for electrical works.
• Interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to guide installation activities.
• Coordinate with site management, construction teams, and subcontractors to ensure seamless integration of electrical works.
• Implement and enforce stringent safety protocols on site, conducting safety inspections and risk assessments.
• Oversee testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning of electrical systems.
• Manage the procurement and inventory of electrical materials and equipment on site.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical installation issues promptly and effectively.
• Maintain accurate records of installation progress, inspections, and as-built drawings.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant South African National Standards (SANS), mining regulations, and health and safety legislation.
