Placements24 seeks a Senior Electrical Field Service Engineer to support customers in the Mahikeng, North West region and surroundings. This field-based role requires extensive travel and hands-on problem solving to install, commission, and maintain complex electrical systems.

You will diagnose faults, provide training, and ensure uptime while adhering to safety standards. A strong customer focus and robust diagnostic capabilities are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in field service or technical support, preferably with industrial machinery or complex electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and blueprints.
• Experience with PLCs and variable speed drives.
• Valid driver''s license and willingness to travel extensively within the region.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site installation, commissioning, and start-up of electrical systems and industrial equipment.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex electrical faults and malfunctions in machinery and control systems.
• Provide expert technical support and guidance to customers, including training on equipment operation and maintenance.
• Conduct preventive maintenance activities to ensure optimal equipment performance and reliability.
• Respond to customer service requests and emergency calls in a timely and efficient manner.
• Interpret electrical schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic data to resolve issues.
• Identify opportunities for upgrades, retrofits, and spare parts sales.
• Prepare detailed service reports, including findings, actions taken, and recommendations.
• Collaborate with the engineering and sales departments to provide feedback on product performance and customer needs.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company safety standards and procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant technical diploma.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in a field service or technical support role, preferably with industrial machinery or complex electrical systems.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills related to electrical circuits, control systems, PLCs, and variable speed drives.
• Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and blueprints.
• Experience with common industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus).
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and test equipment.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively within the assigned region, including occasional overnight stays.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Must be physically capable of performing hands-on work, including lifting and working in various industrial environments.
