Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design for utility-scale solar PV projects, focusing on remote delivery near Upington and surrounding regions.

You will analyze PV systems, develop diagrams, and mentor junior engineers while coordinating with project teams to ensure grid interconnection and successful deployment in a rapidly evolving renewable energy landscape.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 8+ years of electrical engineering experience with a focus on solar PV projects.
• In-depth knowledge of PV design principles, AC/DC systems, grid interconnection, and power electronics.
• Experience with PV design/simulation software such as PVSyst, AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP.
• Experience with remote team settings and project management.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design and engineering for utility-scale solar PV projects from concept to documentation.
• Perform complex electrical system analysis including modeling, interconnection studies, and protection design.
• Develop single-line diagrams, schematics, and equipment specs for PV systems and BoP components.
• Mentor junior engineers and project teams across locations.
• Collaborate with project managers, procurement, and construction teams for successful execution.
• Review contractor designs and proposals for alignment with requirements.
• Stay current with industry trends and regulatory changes in renewables.
