Placements24 is seeking a Remote Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in Power Systems to support a globally distributed team from Pretoria. You will design, analyze, and optimize high‑voltage power infrastructure, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and safety.

Qualifications

Master's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Systems.
10+ years of experience in the design and analysis of electrical power systems.
Expertise in power system simulation software such as PSS/E, ETAP, or PSCAD.
Proven track record in managing complex power engineering projects.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work autonomously.
Experience with grid integration of renewable energy sources is a plus.

Responsibilities

Lead the design and engineering of high-voltage power systems, substations, and grid connections.
Perform advanced power flow studies, short circuit analysis, and transient stability simulations.
Develop protection schemes and relay settings for power system equipment.
Specify and evaluate power system components, including transformers, switchgear, and generators.
Provide technical expertise and mentorship to engineering teams across various global locations.
Ensure designs comply with international standards (IEEE, IEC) and local grid codes.
