Placements24 is seeking a detail-oriented Remote Electrical Design Engineer with a specialty in Solar Projects to join a growing team. The role focuses on electrical design for utility-scale and distributed solar energy systems, with work based in Paarl, Western Cape but fully remote.

You will create schematics, layouts, and specifications, ensure compliance with NEC and local codes, and collaborate with project development, engineering, and construction teams to deliver solar solutions from

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
Minimum 5 years in electrical design, with a significant focus on solar PV projects.
Proficiency in solar design software (PVSyst, Helioscope) and CAD tools.
Strong remote collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Develop detailed electrical designs for solar PV systems, including AC and DC configurations.
Prepare electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, panel schedules, and wiring layouts using CAD and specialized software.
Perform electrical calculations for system sizing, load balancing, and protection requirements.
Select and specify electrical components such as inverters, transformers, switchgear, and cabling.
Ensure designs comply with NEC, local regulations, and interconnection standards.
Provide remote technical support to project managers and construction teams during installation and commissioning.
