About the Role

Our client, a key player in the energy distribution network, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in Power Distribution for their operations in **Randburg, Gauteng**. This senior role is responsible for the design, analysis, and optimization of the electrical distribution network, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient power delivery to customers. You will lead complex projects, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the strategic planning of network upgrades and expansions. The ideal candidate possesses deep technical expertise in distribution systems and strong leadership qualities. Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and engineering of new electrical distribution infrastructure, including substations, feeders, and protection schemes. Analyze system performance, conduct load flow studies, and identify areas for improvement and reinforcement. Develop and implement network expansion and upgrade plans to meet growing demand and enhance reliability. Oversee protection and control system design and coordination for the distribution network. Ensure compliance with all relevant electrical codes, industry standards, and safety regulations. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of electrical engineers and technicians. Manage project lifecycles, from conceptualization and feasibility to detailed design and construction support. Collaborate with operational teams, regulatory bodies, and external stakeholders. Investigate and resolve complex technical issues and power quality problems within the distribution network. Contribute to the development and implementation of asset management strategies for distribution assets.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. A Master's degree or specialization in Power Systems is preferred. Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in electrical power distribution engineering. Proven experience in designing and managing high-voltage and medium-voltage distribution systems. Proficiency in power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, DigSilent). Strong understanding of protection relays, coordination studies, and fault analysis. Excellent leadership, project management, and problem-solving skills. Registered Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) with ECSA is highly desirable. Ability to work effectively in a **Hybrid** work environment, balancing remote and in-office duties. Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities. Experience within the **Randburg, Gauteng** area or similar utility environments.
