About the Role

Our client, a progressive electrical utility company, is seeking an adept Electrical Distribution Engineer to join their team in Randburg, Gauteng. This role is crucial for the planning, design, operation, and maintenance of the electrical distribution network. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliable and efficient delivery of electricity to a diverse customer base. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of distribution system design, load forecasting, fault analysis, and asset management. Key Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and implement upgrades and extensions to the electrical distribution network.
• Perform load flow and fault current analyses to ensure system stability and safety.
• Develop technical specifications for distribution equipment, including transformers, switchgear, and cables.
• Manage distribution system projects from conception through to completion, ensuring adherence to budget and schedule.
• Investigate and resolve network issues, including power quality problems and outages.
• Coordinate with field crews, contractors, and other stakeholders on network operations and maintenance.
• Conduct asset management studies and develop maintenance strategies for distribution infrastructure.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
• Assist in the development of long-term distribution system expansion plans.
• Prepare technical reports and documentation related to distribution network performance and projects.

Requirements

• B.Eng. or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical distribution systems engineering.

• Knowledge of South African electrical standards and regulations.
