About the Role

Our client, a distinguished leader in the Energy infrastructure development space, is seeking a highly competent Senior Electrical Engineer to join their prestigious team in Randburg, Gauteng . This role is central to the design and development of complex power systems, including transmission and distribution networks, substations, and renewable energy integration projects. You will be responsible for leading design efforts, ensuring technical excellence, and mentoring junior engineers. This is a prime opportunity for an experienced electrical engineer to contribute significantly to South Africa's energy future and work on cutting-edge projects. Key Responsibilities

Lead the electrical design of high-voltage and medium-voltage power systems, including substations, transmission lines, and distribution networks. Develop detailed engineering designs, specifications, and calculations for electrical equipment and protection schemes. Conduct power system studies, including load flow, fault analysis, stability, and arc flash studies. Ensure designs comply with all relevant national and international standards, codes, and regulations. Oversee the technical aspects of procurement, construction, and commissioning phases of projects. Mentor and guide junior electrical engineers, providing technical leadership and support. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, mechanical, project management) to ensure integrated project delivery. Review vendor documentation and submittals for electrical equipment. Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support during project execution and in operational phases. Contribute to the continuous improvement of design standards and engineering best practices.

Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, with a specialization in Power Systems. Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in electrical power systems design and engineering. Demonstrated experience in designing transmission and distribution networks, substations, or power generation facilities. Proficiency in power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, DigSilent PowerFactory). Strong knowledge of protection and control systems, grounding, and earthing principles. Familiarity with renewable energy integration challenges and solutions. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong communication and leadership abilities, with experience mentoring junior staff. Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) registration with ECSA is mandatory. Experience within the Randburg, Gauteng region or similar urban infrastructure development contexts is advantageous.
