Placements24 is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer in Durban to lead planning, design, operation and maintenance of electrical distribution networks. You will shape energy delivery with a focus on network resilience, load forecasting and smart grid integration.

You will mentor engineers, oversee project delivery, perform fault analysis and reliability studies, ensure regulatory compliance, and represent the company at technical forums and stakeholder consultations.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Power Systems or Distribution.
• 10+ years in electrical power distribution engineering.
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• Experience leading large-scale power projects and teams.
• Knowledge of distribution software CYME or PSS/ADEPT.

Requirements

• In-depth knowledge of distribution network planning software (e.g., CYME, PSS/ADEPT).
• Expertise in power quality, protection coordination, and substation design.
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance and tariff structures in the energy sector.
• Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Proven leadership and team management skills, with strong communication and presentation capabilities.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is mandatory.
