Placements24 is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join the infrastructure development team in Nelspruit (Mpumalanga). The role blends on-site project work with remote design tasks, focusing on electrical systems for mining operations and safety-compliant infrastructure.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years in electrical design, and has strong knowledge of power distribution, motor control, and industrial automation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• 5+ years of experience in electrical design, preferably in mining or heavy industrial sectors.
• Strong knowledge of high- and low-voltage distribution, motor control, and automation.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical or similar CAD software.
• Knowledge of mining electrical codes and safety regulations is essential.

Responsibilities

• Design and specify electrical systems for mining equipment, substations, and processing plants.
• Develop electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and wiring layouts using CAD software.
• Conduct load calculations, fault studies, and equipment sizing for power distribution networks.
• Select and procure electrical components while ensuring mining safety compliance.
• Oversee installation, commissioning, and testing of electrical systems on-site.
• Ensure designs adhere to mining regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Mpumalanga.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for electrical systems during operation.
• Participate in site inspections and safety audits at remote mining locations.
• Prepare technical reports, documentation, and project cost estimates.
