Placements24, a fintech-focused client headquartered in Pretoria, seeks a senior DevOps Engineer with a strong automation background to advance CI/CD pipelines, automate infrastructure, and ensure reliability of scalable financial platforms.

You will drive IaC initiatives, mentor juniors, and collaborate with development and operations teams in a hybrid Pretoria-based role. Expertise in cloud, containerization, and automation is essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 6 years in DevOps, Systems Administration or Software Engineering with automation focus.
• Proven experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
• Strong IaC tooling (Terraform, Ansible).
• Extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Expertise in Docker and Kubernetes.
• Scripting in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Solid networking, security, and monitoring knowledge.
• Experience with Git or other VCS.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Hybrid Pretoria work environment adaptability.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment.
• Develop and manage infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
• Automate cloud resource provisioning and configuration management across environments (AWS, Azure).
• Implement and manage containerization with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and reliability.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts in Python or Bash.
• Collaborate with development teams to optimize performance and scalability.
• Enforce security best practices across infrastructure and deployment lifecycle.
• Contribute to architectural decisions on infra and tooling.
• Mentor junior team members and promote DevOps best practices.
