Placements24 in Mossel Bay is seeking a vigilant Construction Health and Safety Officer to develop, implement, and monitor health and safety programs across projects, ensuring compliance with South African legislation and fostering a strong safety culture on site.

You will perform site inspections, risk assessments, safety training, and incident investigations while maintaining safety records and supporting management with safety guidance across multiple project sites in the Mossel Bay region.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Health and Safety Officer in construction.
• Thorough knowledge of South African OHS Act and construction regulations.
• Strong risk assessment and incident investigation skills.
• Excellent communication and training abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive health and safety plans for construction projects.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses, recommending and implementing corrective actions.
• Deliver safety training and toolbox talks to construction personnel and subcontractors.
• Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and documentation as required by legislation.
• Advise management on all aspects of health and safety related to construction operations.
