Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Construction Safety Officer to ensure the highest standards of health and safety on Port Elizabeth construction sites in the Eastern Cape. You will conduct inspections, deliver safety training, and investigate incidents to prevent recurrences.

The role requires a proactive professional with strong observational skills, excellent communication, and a solid understanding of SA OH&S legislation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Safety Officer in construction.
• Strong knowledge of South African health and safety legislation (OHS Act, Construction Regulations).
• Excellent communication, training and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and enforce health and safety plans for Port Elizabeth construction sites.
• Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits for compliance.
• Investigate accidents and near misses, prepare reports and corrective actions.
• Deliver toolbox talks and safety training to workers.
• Ensure PPE availability and proper usage.
• Maintain safety records, risk assessments, and permits.
