Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly motivated Environmental Health and Safety Officer to oversee safety protocols and environmental compliance for operations in Mossel Bay. You will develop and implement EHS policies, perform risk assessments, investigate incidents, and drive a strong safety culture across the organization.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, NEBOSH/OHSAS certification is desirable, and has a minimum of 5 years’ progressive EHS experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
• Professional certification (e.g., NEBOSH, OHSAS/ISO 45001) is highly desirable.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in EHS management.
• Strong understanding of local and international EHS regulations.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive EHS programs and policies.
• Conduct site inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards and non-compliance.
• Investigate workplace incidents and environmental incidents; implement preventative measures.
• Develop and deliver EHS training programs for all staff levels.
• Ensure compliance with local, national, and international EHS regulations and standards.
• Maintain EHS records, reports, and documentation for audits.
