Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Officer to join their team on a fully remote basis, overseeing safety programs for construction projects in Mossel Bay, Western Cape. The role focuses on developing, implementing, and monitoring safety systems across sites, with emphasis on risk assessments and incident investigations.

The ideal candidate will hold NEBOSH or SAMTRAC, have at least 5 years in construction HSE, and be skilled at delivering training and promoting a strong safety

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Occupational Health and Safety.
• Minimum of 5 years in a Health and Safety role within construction.
• Knowledge of South African OHS Act and related legislation.
• Excellent communication and training skills for remote environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety management systems for construction sites.
• Conduct site inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
• Investigate accidents and near-misses, documenting findings and corrective actions.
• Deliver health and safety training to employees and subcontractors, in-person and virtually.
• Advise management on health, safety, and environmental legislation and practices.
• Promote a positive safety culture across all project stakeholders.
