Placements24 is seeking a Legal Officer specialising in Compliance and Regulatory Affairs for its Paarl office. The role focuses on monitoring regulatory changes, implementing compliance programs, audits, and advising business units on compliance matters within the financial services sector.

The ideal candidate is an admitted attorney with at least 4 years of experience, deep knowledge of FAIS, FICA and the Companies Act, and strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Admitted attorney of the High Court of SA, or a comparable legal qualification with substantial experience.
• Minimum of 4 years in compliance, regulatory affairs, or financial services law.
• In-depth knowledge of SA financial services legislation (FAIS Act, FICA, Companies Act).
• Experience with compliance monitoring, risk assessment, and internal audits.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret new and existing legislation and regulations relevant to the financial services industry.
• Develop, implement, and maintain the company's compliance framework and policies.
• Conduct regular compliance risk assessments and internal audits.
• Investigate and report on potential compliance breaches.
• Provide training and guidance to staff on compliance procedures and best practices.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies such as the FSCA.
• Assist in the preparation of regulatory filings and reports.
• Advise business units on regulatory implications of new products and services.
• Maintain accurate records of compliance activities.
