You will interpret complex legislation, advise business units, conduct internal audits, and liaise with regulators (FSCA, SARB) as needed.

The role offers a challenging environment for a proactive lawyer focused on ethical compliance and operational integrity.

Qualifications

Admitted Attorney of the SA High Court.
LL.B. or equivalent with a financial services focus.
Minimum of 5 years in legal practice with regulatory compliance.
Strong understanding of FAIS, FICA and Companies Act.
Excellent analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Monitor and interpret legislation, regulations and guidelines in financial services.
Advise business units on compliance matters and regulatory risks.
Develop, implement and update compliance policies and procedures.
Conduct regular compliance reviews and audits for regulatory adherence.
Assist in regulatory filings and disclosures.
Investigate breaches and recommend corrective actions.
Liaise with regulators (FSCA, SARB) as needed.
Deliver compliance training programs for staff.
Manage external counsel on compliance-related matters.
