Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Senior Civil Engineer to lead water and sanitation infrastructure projects in Soweto. You will oversee design, planning, and implementation of reticulation networks, sewer systems and related assets, ensuring reliable service delivery.

The role requires strong project management, leadership, and mentoring of junior engineers, with a drive to improve public services and infrastructure in the community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Pr.Eng. registration with ECSA.
• 8+ years in civil engineering focusing on water and sanitation.
• Experience in potable water treatment, distribution and wastewater collection.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, EPANET and hydraulic modeling software.
• Strong knowledge of SA municipal standards and regulations.
• Project management and contract administration experience.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Valid driver's license for site visits in Soweto.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of water supply systems and sewer networks.
• Perform feasibility studies, impact assessments and site investigations.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specs and tender docs.
• Manage project timelines, budgets and resources.
• Ensure compliance with SA standards, codes and environmental regs.
• Collaborate with municipal clients, contractors and stakeholders.
• Mentor junior civil engineers and technicians.
• Conduct site inspections for construction quality and design adherence.
• Troubleshoot engineering challenges in water and sanitation systems.
• Contribute to sustainable and resilient infrastructure solutions.
• Prepare project reports and progress updates.
