Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer for Infrastructure Projects. This is a fully remote role within South Africa, enabling work from any location with a stable home office and internet.

You will lead design and execution of major infrastructure schemes—roads, bridges, water supply and wastewater—while guiding junior teams, managing budgets and schedules, and ensuring compliance with SA codes and standards.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA is essential.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in civil engineering, with a strong focus on infrastructure projects.
• Proven track record in the design and management of major road, bridge, or water/wastewater projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, and HEC-RAS.
• Excellent understanding of South African building codes, standards, and environmental regulations.
• Demonstrated leadership and experience in managing project teams.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
• A dedicated home office setup with a stable internet connection is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and analysis of civil engineering projects, including roads, bridges, water supply, and wastewater systems.
• Develop detailed engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates for infrastructure developments.
• Conduct site investigations and feasibility studies to assess project viability and identify challenges.
• Oversee project execution, ensuring compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with clients, project managers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project success.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design teams.
• Manage project schedules and budgets, proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports and present findings to stakeholders.
• Stay abreast of industry best practices, emerging technologies, and relevant legislation.
