Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer for a fully remote role based in South Africa. You will lead design and oversight of civil infrastructure projects, work with international teams, and deliver high-quality outcomes from your home office.

You hold a BEng (Civil), Pr.Eng registration with ECSA, 9+ years in infrastructure design and project management, and strong skills in Civil 3D/AutoCAD. Remote leadership, clear communication, and a solid understanding of SA standards are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalent degree.
• Proven Pr. Eng registration with ECSA.
• Minimum 9 years of progressive civil engineering experience, infrastructure design and project management.
• Experience delivering infrastructure projects of varying scales and complexities.
• Proficiency with Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and hydraulic modeling tools.
• Strong knowledge of South African infrastructure standards and procurement processes.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Strong communication, leadership and remote collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of civil infrastructure projects (roads, water, sanitation).
• Manage project lifecycles from feasibility to construction support.
• Ensure designs comply with SA standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with clients, PMs and multidisciplinary teams remotely.
• Review reports, drawings and specifications from team/consultants.
• Provide technical guidance on complex engineering challenges.
• Oversee QA/QC of design deliverables.
• Contribute to proposals and business development.
• Mentor junior engineers in a remote team.
• Stay updated on industry trends and sustainable practices.
