Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly specialized Explosives Engineer for mining sites near Mahikeng to plan, execute, and supervise blasting activities. You will design blast patterns, manage explosives inventory, and ensure strict safety and regulatory compliance in a challenging mining environment.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Mining Engineering with explosives specialization, professional blasting certification or equivalent experience, and at least 5 years in large-scale blasting

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline with explosives specialization.
• Professional certification or extensive experience as a licensed Blasting Engineer/Foreman.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience designing and executing large-scale blasting operations in mining.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize blast patterns for surface and/or underground mining operations to achieve desired fragmentation and minimize dilution.
• Manage the procurement, storage, handling, and usage of explosives and initiation systems.
• Supervise and train blasting crews, ensuring safe and efficient execution of blasting operations.
• Conduct pre- and post-blast inspections, assessing outcomes and making necessary adjustments.
• Ensure compliance with explosives regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements.
• Troubleshoot blasting-related issues and recommend solutions to improve efficiency and safety.
• Maintain accurate records of all blasting activities, including quantities used and results achieved.
