Placements24 is seeking a Chief Mining Engineer to lead mining operations in Cape Town. The role requires strategic oversight of mine planning, development, and operations across underground and open-pit assets, with a focus on safety, efficiency, and sustainable practices.

The successful candidate will direct large-scale projects, manage a diverse team of engineers and supervisors, and drive innovation through advanced mining technologies.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc in Mining Engineering; a Master's degree is advantageous.
• Over 12 years of progressive mining experience, with at least 5 years in a senior management/leadership role.
• Extensive knowledge of open-pit and underground mining methods, mine design software, and production planning.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement long-term strategic mine plans and budgets.
• Oversee the design, construction, and commissioning of mining infrastructure and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Manage a team of mining engineers, supervisors, and staff; foster high performance.
• Implement advanced mining technologies to improve productivity and reduce costs.
