Placements24 seeks a highly experienced Senior Mining Engineer to lead extractive operations at a flagship site in Johannesburg. This role oversees underground and open-pit mining, ensuring safety, efficiency and regulatory compliance while driving strategic plans for resource extraction and budgets.

You will mentor engineers and technical staff, collaborate with geologists and other stakeholders, and contribute to sustainable practices and innovation in the mining sector.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in mining operations with extractive techniques.
• Proven track record in managing large-scale mining projects and multidisciplinary teams.
• Pr.Eng registration or eligibility is highly desirable.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute mining plans including production scheduling, resource management and long-term mine development strategies.
• Supervise and manage a diverse team of mining professionals fostering safety and continuous improvement.
• Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and best practices.
• Analyze operational data to identify improvements, cost-saving measures and productivity gains.
• Manage contractor relationships and oversee procurement and maintenance of mining equipment.
• Collaborate with geologists and metallurgists to optimize ore extraction and processing.
