Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) Engineer to join a distributed team. The role is fully remote with occasional site visits for projects in grid-scale and commercial energy storage.

You will design, engineer, and deploy advanced BESS solutions, integrating Li-ion chemistries with BMS, PCS, EMS, and SCADA while ensuring grid interconnection compliance. The ideal candidate has 7+ years of power systems experience, a Master’s in EE/ME, and is adept at leading

Qualifications

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with a focus on power systems or energy storage.
7+ years of experience in power systems engineering with a specialization in BESS.
Proven design, engineering, and commissioning of BESS projects.
In-depth knowledge of battery chemistries (e.g., Li-ion), BMS, and PCS.
Familiarity with EMS and SCADA systems.
Strong understanding of grid interconnection requirements and utility regulations.
PE license is a plus.

Responsibilities

Design and engineer utility-scale and commercial BESS.
Select battery technologies, inverters, transformers, and control systems per project.
Develop detailed system designs, single-line diagrams, and specs.
Oversee BESS integration with renewables and the grid.
Perform technical due diligence and feasibility studies for BESS projects.
Collaborate with project managers, electrical engineers, and software developers.
Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and safety regulations (NEC, IEEE, UL).
Troubleshoot and resolve issues during commissioning and operation.
Stay updated on new battery technologies and regulatory changes.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff.
