Job summary

Placements24 in Mossel Bay seeks an experienced Senior Analytical Chemist to lead the Quality Control laboratory. You will develop, validate, and implement analytical methods, oversee instrument calibration, and mentor junior chemists while ensuring product integrity and regulatory compliance.

The role requires advanced degrees and 5–7 years of analytical chemistry experience with HPLC/GC/LC-MS, UV-Vis, IR, and NMR. Strong data integrity and GMP/GLP experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a related discipline.
• 5–7 years of experience in analytical chemistry with a strong focus on quality control in the pharmaceutical or chemical industry.
• Hands-on experience with chromatography (HPLC, GC), mass spectrometry (LC-MS, GC-MS), and spectroscopic techniques (UV-Vis, IR, NMR).
• Proficiency in method development, validation, and transfer according to ICH guidelines.
• Experience with LIMS and data integrity principles.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail; able to work effectively in Mossel Bay laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and implement analytical methods for materials and finished products using HPLC, GC, MS, and spectroscopy.
• Perform routine and non-routine analyses to ensure quality and regulatory compliance.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation with calibration and performance checks.
• Review and interpret data; prepare reports and certificates of analysis.
• Lead and mentor junior analytical chemists; provide training and guidance.
• Support regulatory submissions and adhere to GLP and GMP.
