Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Senior Analytical Chemist to join its QA/QC team in Richards Bay. You will lead analytical testing, method development, and validation to ensure quality and regulatory compliance for pharmaceutical products.

You will oversee testing procedures, mentor junior chemists, and drive adherence to GMP, USP, and EP standards, including method transfer and OOS investigations.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of analytical chemistry experience within the pharmaceutical industry, specifically in QA/QC.
• Expertise in chromatographic techniques (HPLC, GC) and spectroscopic methods.
• Strong knowledge of GMP regulations, pharmacopeial standards (e.g., USP, EP), and method validation principles.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and transfer analytical methods for raw materials, in-process samples, and finished drug products.
• Perform complex analytical testing using techniques such as HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR, and dissolution apparatus.
• Investigate and resolve out-of-specification (OOS) results and deviations, ensuring thorough documentation and root cause analysis.
• Author and review analytical method validation protocols and reports according to ICH guidelines.
• Train and mentor junior analytical chemists on laboratory techniques, instrumentation, and regulatory requirements.
