Placements24 in Mossel Bay is seeking a Senior Chemist to lead the Analytical Development team. You will develop and validate analytical methods for raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products, ensuring quality and regulatory compliance.

You will operate instruments such as HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR, and MS, mentor junior chemists, analyze data, and prepare reports in a demanding industrial setting with a focus on scientific rigor.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in Analytical Chemistry or related field.
• 6+ years in analytical method development and validation.
• Hands-on with HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR and related techniques.
• Strong knowledge of GLP/GMP and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is recruiting a highly skilled Senior Chemist to lead their Analytical Development team in Mossel Bay . This role is critical for ensuring the quality, safety, and efficacy of our products through the development and validation of robust analytical methods. You will oversee the operation of advanced analytical instrumentation, mentor junior chemists, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of analytical techniques and a commitment to scientific rigor in a challenging industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and implement analytical methods for raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
• Operate and maintain a range of analytical instruments, including HPLC, GC, spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry.
• Troubleshoot analytical methods and instrumentation issues to ensure data integrity.
• Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and prepare comprehensive reports.
• Mentor and guide junior chemists in analytical techniques and laboratory best practices.
• Ensure all laboratory activities comply with GLP/GMP and other relevant regulatory guidelines.

Requirements

• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in analytical method development and validation.
• Extensive hands‑on experience with HPLC , GC, UV-Vis, FTIR, and other relevant analytical techniques.
• Strong understanding of pharmaceutical or chemical industry quality control and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
