Job summary

Dis-Chem Pharmacies seeks a vigilant Security Officer to safeguard assets across Mpumalanga stores. The role emphasizes security control, loss prevention, and on-site guard supervision, with emphasis on incident reporting, CCTV monitoring, and PSIRA compliance.

The ideal candidate holds Grade 12, PSIRA registration, and at least 2 years of retail security experience, with proficiency in digital security systems and POPIA compliance.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 / Matric is required.
• PSIRA accreditation/registration is required.
• Minimum 2 years retail security experience in a mall environment.
• Experience with CCTV and incident reporting systems.
• Knowledge of POPIA and handling CCTV footage/personal data.
• Warehouse or distribution centre experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Be vigilant and alert to identify suspicious activities according to SOPs.
• Investigate and report signs of damage, tampering or unlawful entry and protect company assets.
• Liaise with the off-site CCTV monitoring centre regarding footage requests and evidence retrieval.
• Respond promptly to alarms and alerts from the off-site CCTV control room.
• Receive and assist guests, customers, suppliers and employees professionally.
• Protect company property and assets from theft, vandalism or misconduct.
• Remain at the assigned post with vigilance during duty.
• Report unusual or suspicious behaviour by staff, customers or suppliers.
• Conduct and supervise opening and closing procedures with heightened vigilance.
• Investigate stock disputes at the dispensary and front line with coordination from monitoring centre.
• Monitor and secure high-risk areas like Bin 1000; ensure proper documentation and audits.
• Understand authority levels and incident escalation protocols.
