Job summary

EdUpStairs in South Africa is seeking a Residence Supervisor for the TVET College residence. You will oversee student wellbeing, conduct inductions, and manage room allocations and records.

You will coordinate with campus management and bursary office, draft the residence code of conduct, prepare monthly reports, and ensure safety and maintenance of residence facilities.

The role requires 1-2 years experience, a Grade 12 or related qualification, and strong leadership and planning abilities.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 certificate or NQF 4/5 in administration or equivalent.
• 1-2 years’ supervising students in college residence.
• Knowledge of TVET College policies and governance including annual reporting requirements.
• Understanding of Higher Education sector policies and legislation.
• Strong administrative, planning and organizing skills.
• Good report writing and financial management abilities.
• Problem solving and teamwork.
• Computer literacy.
• People and team leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure and monitor the wellbeing of students; conduct residence induction.
• Facilitate the election of block leaders and ensure the flow of information to campus manager and bursary office.
• Provide conflict management for students and dining hall; draft residence code of conduct.
• Maintain household records, admission and allocate rooms for students; distribute residence application forms.
• Collect application forms with supporting documents; verify information on COLTECH system.
• Record, file copies of student deposit slips and indemnity forms.
• Maintain written records of student movement out of residence afterhours.
• Prepare and submit monthly reports on hostel activities and incidents.
• Allocate rooms based on admission criteria, seniority and first-come basis.
• Set up and administer duty roster.
• Monitor safety of students and belongings; make rounds to ensure security.
• Provide basic emergency first aid and summon medical help when needed.
• Ensure maintenance and management of property and infrastructure at the residence.
