Placements24 is seeking a Renewable Energy Project Developer in Paarl to identify, evaluate, and secure opportunities for solar, wind and emerging technologies. You will oversee early-stage development, from site selection and permitting to offtake agreements and project financing.

The role focuses on growth in the Western Cape and beyond, requiring strong financial modelling, stakeholder engagement, and contract negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in project development within the renewable energy sector.
• Proven ability to secure permits, negotiate contracts, and manage stakeholder relations.
• Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies and market dynamics in South Africa.
• Excellent financial acumen and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate potential sites for renewable energy projects, considering resource availability and grid connection feasibility.
• Manage the permitting and regulatory approval processes for new developments.
• Engage with landowners, community stakeholders, and local authorities to build support for projects.
• Negotiate and secure Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and other offtake arrangements.
• Develop preliminary project economics and financial models to support investment decisions.
• Collaborate with engineering and construction teams throughout the project lifecycle.
