Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Sound Designer for a fully remote role in South Africa. You will craft immersive audio for upcoming titles, designing effects, ambiences, and interactive elements and collaborating with design, art, and programming teams to align audio with gameplay.

The ideal candidate has a strong DAW background (Pro Tools, Logic Pro, or similar), hands-on experience with Wwise or FMOD, and knowledge of Unreal or Unity.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Sound Designer in the video game industry.
• Portfolio demonstrating a wide range of sound design work.
• Expert in at least one major DAW (Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Cubase, or Reaper).
• Experience with game audio middleware (Wwise or FMOD) is essential.
• Familiarity with game engines (Unreal Engine or Unity).
• Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering or related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, record, edit, and mix high-quality sound effects and ambiences for video games.
• Implement audio assets into game engines using middleware such as Wwise or FMOD.
• Collaborate with game designers to create dynamic and responsive in-game audio systems.
• Develop audio concepts and proposals for new game titles.
• Ensure consistency and quality of all audio assets throughout the development process.
• Optimize audio assets for performance and memory usage.
• Contribute to the overall audio direction and technical implementation strategy.
• Stay current with the latest trends, tools, and techniques in game audio design.
• Mentor junior sound designers and provide constructive feedback.
